AMPHL CONFERENCE HISTORY

AMPHL has hosted eleven conferences since 2001 where hundreds of Deaf and hard-of-hearing healthcare professionals, as well as sign language interpreters from around the world, have gathered and shared stories, learned about the latest cutting-edge technology, and connected with others.

2022 - Las Vegas, Nevada

We had our long-awaited in-person conference in the entertainment capital of the world on August 19-21 and it did not disappoint! The venue was located at the University of Nevada where we saw about 120 attendees from 4 different countries and with the theme, “utilizing technological tools and resources in the setting of a pandemic”, we had an informative array of presentations. We were able to award 10 students/trainees our travel scholarship.

2019 - BALTIMORE, MARYLAND

The ninth biennial AMPHL Conference took place in the bustling city of Baltimore at the BWI Airport Marriott Hotel on June 1-4, 2019. We saw over 400 attendees from around the world!

Unlike past conferences, this conference was co-hosted with ADARA (American Deafness and Rehabilitation Association), an organization with the mission of facilitating professional development, networking opportunities, and public policies for a multidisciplinary membership of professionals who provide personal services to individuals who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, late-deafened, and deaf-blind.

Our conference theme was “Embracing Cross-Disciplinary Partnerships” which brought together the members of two vital organizations to address common barriers by sharing information resulting in more effective solutions.

Thank you to our conference chair, Stephen Roldan!

2021 - VIRTUAL CONFERENCE

The tenth biennial AMPHL conference was virtual this year for the first time due to the COVID pandemic. Despite not being able to meet in person, the conference was a success with many great health panels and lively discussions over the course of two days, August 14-15.
